The Victorian Branch of the Australian Stud Saddle Pony Society Inc. has instigated a listing for "Approved Australian Stud Saddle Pony Sires".
This "listing" is available in Victoria, South-Australia and New South Wales and helps our members to make an informed choice in using stallions that are not ASSPS registered.
Whilst any stallion registered with the APSB (Australian, Welsh A or B) or Welsh Society (A or B) or a Pure Arabian is able to be used to produce an ASSPS eligible foal, an approved listing provides you with a very inexpensive way of advertising your stallion and also puts your stallion right out there in front of the members.
If you have a stallion that meets the following criteria, then for a "one-off" fee of $50 your stallion will be listed as an "Approved ASSP Sire".
Approved stallions MUST be suitable for breeding to ASSPS foundation mares and ASSPS C,B, A or Purebred mares. (Please read the page on our breeding programme carefully.)
For your one-off fee of $50 you will receive free advertising in the way of a listing of approved stallions that will be published in the ASSPS Newletter; your stallions name and your contact details will be listed on this web site and will be made available to all members of the ASSPS at no further cost to you, the owner.
As an owner of an approved sire you will also be entitled to advertise your stallion as an "Approved ASSPS Sire".
Owners of approved stallions are NOT required to pay a membership fee - You only have to pay the one-off fee of $50.00
Criteria for an "Approved ASSP Sire" -
- Proof of breeding must be provided of both the sire and dams breeding for a minimum of four
generations back.
- Stallion must be registered with a recognised breed society or organisation ie: APSB (Australian or
Welsh A & B) or WPCS Welsh A or B.
- Stallion maybe registered as a Purebred Arabian stallion in a stud book recognised as being for
Purebred Arabians.
- There must be no known thoroughbred blood in the stallion
- Stallion must be of a whole body colour ie: no broken colour and no cremello's or perlino's allowed.
- Stallion must be at least two years old.
- No height maximum but it should be remembered that your stallion should be of a suitable height and
type to breed to registered Australian Stud Saddle Pony mares ie: breed height limit is 14.2hh.
